Currently Pavilack works at Northwestern University in Chicago as the Associate Director of Athletics Communications.
Pavilack worked on the Kent State Sports Network from Learfield IMG College for six years in a myriad of rules including home play-by-play announcer for men’s and women’s basketball, football field analyst and pre-game host. In addition, he was a co-host for the network’s weekly coach’s show, FlashTalk, for all three sports. Further, he served as the main play-by-play announcer for Kent State softball for Learfield IMG College and could be heard on select Kent State baseball broadcasts and ESPN3. He also conducted broadcasts for volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics on the network.
In 2013-14, Pavilack began working with Kent State athletics as the public address announcer for field hockey and women’s soccer during the fall sports season. The following spring, he began announcing baseball and softball on the Kent State IMG Sports Network.
Midway through the 2015 football season, Pavilack was promoted to full-time field analyst for radio broadcasts on the Kent State IMG Sports Network and co-host of the weekly coach’s show. The promotion made Pavilack, 20, one of the youngest full-time network announcers in the country. Pavilack worked in this position as a fill-in beginning in the 2014 season, which included a thrilling 27-24 victory over rival Akron.
In 2016-17, Pavilack began filling in for road Kent State women’s basketball broadcasts and called games against Baylor, Minnesota and Michigan in the WNIT. That same year, Pavilack was the voice of Kent State softball’s magical run at the Mid-American Conference Tournament, winning three games in one day to win the tournament championship for the first time since 2008. He also was behind the mic at the NCAA Tournament in Waco, Texas when the Flashes knocked off perennial power Oregon State.
He began calling home men’s and women’s basketball games in 2017-18 on the Kent State IMG Sports Network making him one of the youngest men’s basketball play-by-play announcers in the country. His buzzer beater call as Kent State defeated Northern Illinois in the MAC Tournament was featured in multiple national broadcasts. He also began calling Olympic sports on ESPN3.
Before arriving at Kent State, Pavilack worked in local radio in his hometown of Wheeling, West Virginia. He has called many West Virginia and Ohio high school sporting events, including state championship football, basketball and softball games.
Pavilack is a two-time graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management (2017) and Master of Arts in Sport and Recreation Management (2019).
